“Coco Gauff’s United Cup ‘Tanking’ Exposed: Insiders Claim Australian Open Withdrawal is IMMINENT After a Shocking ‘No-Effort’ Performance.”
Coco Gauff was sent crashing back down to earth in her latest United Cup match, which she lost to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.
Gauff has a fantastic history at the United Cup, playing a starring role as the USA lifted the trophy in 2025.
The WTA icon then started from where she left off in her opening match of this year’s event, defeating Argentina’s Solana Sierra.
But that straightforward 6-1, 6-1 win has been followed by a shock 6-1, 6-7 (3), 6-0 defeat to Spain’s Bouzas Maneiro.
Which country do you think will win the United Cup?
Coco Gauff still has double fault concern ahead of the Australian Open
However, more worrying for Gauff than the loss itself was her serve, with the American landing only 60% of her first serves, winning just under 60% of those points.
Moreover, her ongoing double fault issues came to the fore once more, with Gauff hitting 14 in the defeat.
Gauff’s serving struggles are nothing new, highlighted by the fact that she topped the WTA charts for double faults in both 2025 and 2024.
The latest offseason was a fantastic chance for her to fix the problem, or at least improve in that area, but for now it seems that it will continue to haunt her on the court.

A huge 54 unforced errors were also committed against Bouzas Maneiro, but most worrying for the upcoming Australian Open are her ongoing double fault woes.
The hard-court Grand Slam, at which Gauff once reached the semifinals, returns to Melbourne later this month.
Where will Coco Gauff be ranked at the end of the 2026 season?
Coco Gauff may have suffered confidence hit before the Australian Open
Of course, Gauff does need more time to work on her serving issues, which have constantly plagued her in her relatively brief career so far.
Still, she’s managed to clinch stunning success, claiming two Grand Slam titles and climbing as high as world number two.
But her confidence may just have taken an unwelcome hit in that regard, with Gauff no longer the American number one.
She has been replaced by Amanda Anisimova, who has swapped places with her compatriot from fourth to third in the WTA rankings.
