Luke Littler
The 18-year-old has firmly established himself as the premier player globally, returning to the Alexandra Palace one year after his historic first title. His 2025 season has been truly outstanding, cementing his position at the very top of the sport.
Littler secured five major titles throughout the year, including the UK Open, Matchplay, and Grand Prix, alongside finishing as runner-up in two other major finals. He currently appears virtually unbeatable in the sport’s longer match formats.
Luke Humphries
The reigning 2024 champion has publicly declared his intent to reclaim his title at the next tournament, which is his only path to regaining the world number one ranking. Humphries is consistently recognised as the sole player capable of performing at Littler’s elite level.
He managed to secure two major tournament victories during the 2025 season, making him the clear second-best player behind Littler, with their intense rivalry defining the current state of the sport. A final between the two Lukes is widely anticipated, and Humphries is seen as the primary challenger to stop Littler.
Josh Rock
The year 2025 saw Rock finally deliver on the considerable potential he has long demonstrated, signalling his arrival as a top contender. His confidence was significantly boosted after winning his first major title and helping Northern Ireland secure the World Cup of Darts.
Rock has performed consistently well in major events, reaching three semi-finals and two quarter-finals, suggesting he is well-placed for his first extended run at the Alexandra Palace. He will be looking to get past the fourth round, which has previously been his limit.
