Raducanu’s 2026 Withdrawal Sparks Fury as Fans Unearth ‘Blueprint’ Tweet They Claim Proves This Was Always The Plan – And A Bigger SHOCK Is Coming Due To…
Emma Raducanu has suffered a very frustrating start to her 2026 season by withdrawing before her opener at the United Cup.
Great Britain’s Raducanu was supposed to take on Japan’s Naomi Osaka in Perth, but she was replaced by Katie Swan.
Team captain Tim Henman said Raducanu was close to playing the match, which Swan went on to lose to former WTA number one Osaka.
But Great Britain won the United Cup tie 2-1 overall, with Greece representing their next opponents in Group E.
Which country do you think will win the United Cup?
Tennis fans not surprised by Emma Raducanu’s United Cup withdrawal
It remains to be seen if Raducanu will play for her side, with many fans having almost anticipated her withdrawal given her disastrous injury record.
“New Year, same Raducanu…” one fan wrote on X, with another commenting: “Damn Raducanu is reliably unreliable.”
Others agreed, saying: “She’s starting the year off as she means to go on… as usual,” and “Season barely started and she’s already injured.”
Other tennis fans concurred, commenting: “As expected,” and “Well… it would be a bigger surprise if she played. But Katie Swan hits really nicely.”

Emma Raducanu suffers early Australian Open scare
It is a real shame for not only Raducanu but also tennis fans, who would have been understandably excited for her exciting clash with four-time Grand Slam champion Osaka.
But it did open the door for Swan to take on a WTA superstar, who she challenged before eventually falling 7-6(7-4), 6-1.
Of course, Raducanu’s health should be the main priority, with the player and team clearly feeling she wasn’t fit to play.
Who is your favorite player on the WTA Tour right now?
And that is definitely the right decision given her injury history, with the Briton holding a nightmare record aged just 23.
She will not want to start 2026 by aggravating an issue, with the United Cup certainly not a priority at this moment in time.
It is, however, a real worry for Raducanu regarding the Australian Open, which will be at the top of her agenda right now.
