SAD NEWS: Rune’s career is in jeopardy since medical reports indicate that his injury is far worse than the team is letting on and that he may have to stop playing.
Holger Rune has shared a very positive update on his recovery as the 2022 Paris Masters champion says he will soon get rid of the protective booth and enter the next stage in his rehabilitation.
After sustaining one of the scariest injuries seen on the ATP Tour this year, the MRI revealed that the 22-year-old’s Achilles tendon was completely broken. Since then, the Danish tennis star has had a successful surgery on his Achilles tendon – has returned to doing light gym exercises – and recently also hit some balls while wearing a protective booth.
“The end of phase 2 is getting closer, 7.5 weeks since surgery. The boot is slowly getting off and transition to walking in shoes with elevation has begun. It’s super difficult to walk. but I kind of get a kick out of the challenge enjoy your weekend everyone,” Rune wrote on Instagram.
Rune wants to stay active
It is not a secret that an Achilles injury is one of the worst to suffer in pro sports. With that being said, it was clear from the start that Rune would be out for an extended time. The general expectation is that the former world No. 4 will not see any action in the first part of 2026. Also, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him miss the entire next season.
However, one thing is for sure – the Danish tennis star plans to stay active as much as he is allowed.
“You can’t stay in bed because you are scared of falling . You need to push within the limits of what you can do and improve and increase whenever allowed . You most certainly can help the healing process by being active within certain frames of each step of the recovery,” the 22-year-old recently wrote when responding to a fan.

Madison Keys addresses ‘very confusing’ thiing from Venus Williams exhibition match

Madison Keys admits she was very confused after the electronic line calling malfunctioned during her Charlotte exhibition match versus Venus Williams.
With Keys leading 3-1 in the first set and Williams serving, the reigning Australian Open champion made a return that was called out. But then, the review showed that the ball was actually in. After some confusion, the point was replayed and won by the world No. 7.
In the end, Williams managed to find her way back into the first set, but Keys still won in two sets 7-6 (2) 6-0.
Keys: I was confused… The ruling is confused
“We were playing the match in the first set, and I hit a return. It was close, I couldn’t tell. They put the review on the board, and it comes up that the ball is on the line, but they called it out,” the world No. 7 said on The Player’s Box.
“I was like, wait, what? I am confused! So I went to the chair, and I was like, it says that it’s in, but it also says that it’s out, and the chair was like, we have to go with the ruling. I was like the ruling is confused, so I don’t know what we are talking about. She said we had to go with the review. But I was like, I don’t know, I didn’t understand her, but she said the light went off and I saw space, and we have to go with the call.”
After addressing a bizarre situation, Keys also noted that it was “amazing” and “super fun” to take on Williams in an exhibition match.
Before the exhibition, Keys and Williams met six times on the WTA Tour, with the younger American winning four of those six meetings.
Meanwhile, Keys has been confirmed for Adelaide, where she will defend her title. After Adelaide, the American will return to the Australian Open as a defending Grand Slam champion for the first time in her career.
