2009 champion Jenson Button recently gave him a nod when suggesting that the 28-year-old was one of the reasons why he retired.

Can Max Verstappen win the 2025 F1 title?
With his victory at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Verstappen moved to within 42 points of Lando Norris, before a shock post-race disqualification for plank wear.
Now, the gap is just 24 points, and the most remarkable and unthinkable turnarounds of all time looks to be on. It can be done.
Arguably, he needs to win all remaining races (Qatar sprint included) to come out on top, but it isn’t virtually impossible anymore.
The impact of another surprise retirement would be clear. Verstappen could take the championship lead heading into Abu Dhabi in that situation, and set up one of the greatest finishes ever.
