Djokovic DESTROYS Sinner Over Doping Case – ‘Too Many Red Flags’ Comment Shocks Tennis amidst controversies due to…

Former World No.1 Novak Djokovic believed that there were a lot of red flags during the process of Jannik Sinner’s doping investigation last year. The Italian was found guilty of doping after a minuscule amount of a banned substance was found in his test last year.

The 24-year-old was even given a three-month suspension from the sport during the early stages of the 2025 season.

Although Sinner copped a lot of criticism for negotiating his suspension as he missed important events post his Australian Open triumph, but returned to competitive tennis ahead of the second Grand Slam of the year in Roland Garros.

Djokovic, amongst several other prominent tennis players, was publicly critical of the sequence of events as they questioned the lack of transparency within the process. During his exclusive interview with Piers Morgan on his YouTube channel, the 24-time Grand Slam winner once again reiterated his disappointment over the case and said:

“I do think that he didn’t do it on purpose. But the way the whole case was handled has so many red flags. There is a lack of transparency, the inconsistency, the convenience of the ban coming between the [grand] slams, so he doesn’t miss out on the others. It was very, very odd.”

“I really don’t like how the case was being handled, and you could hear so many other players, both male and female, who had some similar situations, coming out in the media and complaining that it was a preferable treatment.”

Novak Djokovic Makes a Damning Jannik Sinner Comparison

Novak Djokovic stated that he believed that Jannik Sinner might have a “cloud” over his head for the rest of his career for his doping ban, similar to the Serb’s controversial removal from the 2022 Australian Open for his COVID-19 stance.

As quoted by the aforementioned source, the 38-year-old made a dim prediction regarding the situation and said:

“That cloud will follow him just as the cloud of Covid will follow me, for the rest of his, or my career in this case. It’s just something that was so major, and when that happens, over time, it will fade, but I don’t think it will disappear. There’s always going to be a certain group of people that will always try to bring that forward.”

Following a three-month suspension post Australian Open, Sinner returned to competitive tennis during his home tournament in Rome and immediately reached the final of the Masters 1000. He further reached the final of Roland Garros and the US Open while capturing his fourth Grand Slam at Wimbledon.

Despite the long absence, the Italian has a shot at finishing the season as the year-end No.1 for the second season running, but requires a lot of outside assistance from Carlos Alcaraz. Sinner will have to win the title at the 2025 Nito ATP Finals in Turin, but will have to hope that the Spaniard fails to win three matches during the week.
