Exciting Times for Hokies Fans: As the July 10th game release approaches, Virginia Tech’s momentum continues to grow.

Virginia Tech is gaining noticeable traction in the lead-up to the release of College Football 26, with the Hokies featured prominently in various marketing materials for the game. One of the first hints came when Metallica’s iconic “Enter Sandman” — long associated with Virginia Tech football — played in the background of an early trailer. Later, the Hokies took center stage in a promotional video focused on the “Road to Glory” game mode, underscoring the team’s growing momentum ahead of the game’s July 10th launch.

As excitement builds, attention turns to predicting the top-rated players on the Virginia Tech roster when the game drops. Based on past performance, potential, and recent transfer activity, three players are standing out as likely candidates to be the Hokies’ highest-rated athletes in the upcoming title.

Kyron Drones – Quarterback

Kyron Drones, who transferred from Baylor and took over as Virginia Tech’s quarterback last season, is expected to be one of the team’s top players in College Football 26. Although his numbers at Baylor were relatively modest — throwing for 1,562 yards, 10 touchdowns, and six interceptions while adding six rushing scores — he showed significant improvement during his first season in Blacksburg. Drones finished the season with more than 2,000 passing yards, 17 touchdown passes, and just three interceptions. His dual-threat capabilities made him an essential part of the Hokies’ offensive identity.

That said, his overall rating in the game might take a hit due to some inconsistencies and a minor medical procedure that caused him to miss the end of spring practice. Still, if the revamped offensive line lives up to expectations, Drones could be in for a strong year — and perhaps a midseason ratings boost as the season progresses.

Donovan Greene – Wide Receiver

Another name to watch is Donovan Greene, a transfer from Wake Forest who brings both skill and experience to a Virginia Tech team looking to overhaul its wide receiver corps. Last season at Wake Forest, Greene recorded modest stats, averaging around 50 receiving yards per game and notching three touchdowns on the year. He was rated an 84 in the previous edition of the game, a number he could retain or slightly improve upon in his new role with the Hokies.

Over his college career, Greene has amassed over 1,800 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. With Virginia Tech in need of proven playmakers on the outside, Greene is poised to take on a significant role in the offense. His experience and prior production make him a likely candidate to be among the team’s top three highest-rated offensive players.

Tomas Rimac – Offensive Lineman

Possibly the most impactful addition to the Hokies’ roster is offensive lineman Tomas Rimac. Coming in from West Virginia, Rimac followed offensive line coach Matt Moore to Virginia Tech, bringing with him a strong track record and a high level of experience. He started all 13 games for the Mountaineers last season and earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors, as well as a solid 78.6 grade from Pro Football Focus (PFF).

Now a redshirt senior, Rimac is expected to anchor the offensive line and provide veteran leadership to a unit undergoing significant changes. Given his PFF performance and collegiate experience, Rimac is likely to be the highest-rated player on the Hokies’ offense when College Football 26 is released. His presence will be especially valuable in protecting Kyron Drones and opening up opportunities for playmakers like Greene.

Virginia Tech continues to earn recognition in College Football 26’s promotional efforts, fans have plenty to look forward to both on-screen and on the field. With the game’s release set for July 10th, anticipation is growing — and the Hokies are positioning themselves for a strong showing, both digitally and in real life.
